Art to move through it
Recently, the world has felt at once too big and too suffocating. Many things I hold dear are under assault. The news is both personal and political, and it has been hard for this empath to know how to process fast enough to act. I questioned photographing happy families while others are attacked for existing. A break from posting on social media has helped keep it at arm's length long enough to bring into focus what matters, now.
Earlier this month, my family went on our annual-ish pilgrimage to Bread and Puppet Theater in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The performance reminded me that sometimes the world is too horrific not to create art in the face of it, as a means to move through it.
So here I am. Making art. As an act of moving through the world with you all, my community, together. Because what are we if not loving, connecting beings doing our best.
let's make some art together.
