about me
Hi there, I'm Katie.
My candid, casual photographs capture people as they are, among the spaces and artifacts that define them. I bring a documentary, storytelling style to help you remember all those little details that make this chapter what it is.
My favorite images have always been the casual details of the now: doodles on a scrap of paper, feet muddy from running in the yard, quick glances that speak volumes. Those details are fleeting.
I want to remember this time in its fullness, and perhaps you do, too.
Photography and data collection aren't all that different.
Perhaps because I am also an academic in the field of agroecology, I approach my photography with the same observational skills I have gained through years of teaching and field research. In my early career studying wildlife conservation, I lived in eight different states in ten years. In each space that I called my own, whether a tiny room or a whole house, it was important to me to document my home with my trusty Canon AE-1.
I wonder sometimes if it was the scientist in me collecting data on her evolving habitat: the ephemeral and intimate details of my own story.
