I've always connected with the description of life with children as the longest days and the shortest years. That phrase so accurately describes my experience as a parent, especially those moments after bedtime when I collapse into a pile of laundry feeling like I've done all the things and none of the things. And yet, it feels like yesterday when we welcomed our first kiddo into the world.

Day in the Life sessions are designed to capture those long days and the many adventures they contain before the short years are over. I hang with your crew for half a day and document the chaos and quiet, and everything in between. No poses, no pressure. That's when the magic happens.

KATIE!!! Oh my goodness these are amazing! I know they’re all mine so I’m biased, but everything is just so beautiful and real. I can’t thank you enough!

But what will we do?

What do we ever do? These sessions are intended to be a small time capsule of your time in this chapter, documenting all the details of a day. The shoelace-tying, art projects everywhere, the everything-takes-four-times-what-it-used-tos. Let's bum around the house or hop over to your favorite spots in town. All of it tells the story of now.

But why documentary?

This is parenthood and you know as well as I do that it's a madhouse. Posed holiday photos never quite capture the action that's always humming in the background, and so much of that action is the stuff of life. And also? No one ever wears (clean) matching outfits IRL. There. I said it.

I'm so awkward in photos.

Yeah, dude, me too. Because you know what? Traditional photos can feel like they come with expectations. Documentary photography asks nothing of its subjects, and instead celebrates each personality that makes your family what it is, as it is. Our time together feels like a chill hang out sesh, and the result is a visual story that is very much yours.
