hello, families!

Every year, I host a series of alternative school photos for elementary and middle school kids in an outdoor setting. My family moved to Western Mass in August, 2024, so this is the first year I'm offering portraits in the area. These sessions are quick and easy, and kids usually have a great time.

I love photographing kids because they are usually pretty genuine in front of the camera. My approach to school portraits is to capture children as they are, with no forced smiles and no requirement to be still-- low pressure and fun!

when are school photos?

where will you take the photos?

I will meet you at the parking lot and we'll walk over to a natural setting for photos. The many shady areas create the perfect diffused light for portraits.

what should the kids wear?

The most important thing is that the kids are comfortable and feel good in their clothing. Itchy, uncomfortable outfits make itchy, uncomfortable photos. Lighter colored tops are best against the darker foliage that will likely be our background, but if they're not feeling light hues, no problem-- I can work with that. Patterns are fine, but I recommend avoiding neon colors and shirts with brands or characters.

what if my kid is grumpy?

We all get grumpy, especially after a long day at school. And you know what? Grumpy kid shots are some of my favorites. I'll capture your wee scholars however they want to be captured and we'll make some beautiful images nonetheless! But, if you're really going for a smile, you know the drill: SNACKS.
