Are we in our groove yet? Is there such a thing?

Ah, September! The month my whole being is simultaneously screaming for the structure of the school year, and quietly panicked, knowing the winter cometh. But! Not before the beauty of fall. When I was growing up in Florida, I would fantasize about living in New England, where I imagined it was fall year-round. It turns out, I enjoy that the passage of seasons brings an order to things, even if I can't feel my toes for six months out of the year. Most of all, I love that in the fall I get to reconnect with all of you.

I'm writing with some news from here and more on my Fall 2026 offerings. I hope you are well, and that we see one another soon.

Yours,

Katie

Quite a run.

This past weekend, I said my final goodbyes to a woman who lived an impressive 103 years, my grandmother-in-law. She was hilarious and humble, the one you'd want to sit next to at the party to be privy to her one-liners. I am so grateful to have known her as long as I did. As I listened to the stories from loved ones, a pattern stood out to me: her role as a matriarch was marked by consistent presence. Nothing dramatic. But constant, reliable, available presence. And the entire family understood that was love.

It's not the big things that make up a life, though those are important pulses, landmarks. The mundane moments far outweigh the fireworks. And they become the connective tissue that bonds us to one another, if we're lucky, for a lifetime.

To 103 years of being present through it all.

A life well loved.
