School Portraits: What to expect
Battis Farm, Amesbury
hello, school portrait families!
I'm thrilled to be photographing the school portraits again this year. I can't wait to see returning and new families out at Battis Farm and take some sweet photos.
A bit about me: I'm part-scientist/academic and part photographer, a hybrid existence I've found best feeds the analytical and creative sides of my brain. I love photographing school-aged kids because they are usually pretty genuine in front of the camera. My approach to school portraits is to capture the kids as they are, with no forced smiles and no requirement to be still-- low pressure and fun!
Hopefully this page answers any questions you might have about what to expect and how ordering works, etc. If not, reach out anytime with questions.
See you soon,
Katie
when are school photos?
Sept. 20 and 28th in the afternoons from 4-6:30pm
where will you take the photos?
I will meet you near the parking lot-- look for the lady with the dangling cameras! We'll walk along the paths and use the community garden for our backgrounds. The naturally shady areas along the paths create the perfect diffused light for portraits.
what should the kids wear?
The most important thing is that the kids are comfortable and feel good in their clothing. Itchy, uncomfortable outfits make itchy, uncomfortable photos. Lighter colored tops are best against the darker foliage that will likely be our background, but if you're not feeling light hues, no problem-- I can work with that.
what if my kid is grumpy?
We all get grumpy, especially after a long day at school. And you know what? Grumpy kid shots are some of my favorites. I'll capture your wee scholars however they want to be captured and we'll make some beautiful images nonetheless! But, if you're really going for a smile, you know the drill: SNACKS.
